Welcome to Season 2

A quick episode to welcome you all to a new season of Abortion, with love

Transcript:

Hi everyone, welcome back to Abortion, with love! It’s September 28, International Abortion Day, the day that we celebrate abortions, celebrate all the big wins, like when countries decriminalise abortion, and the small wins, like when people just get to access the abortions that they want and need. And when we get to celebrate all the people who work hard everyday to make that happen. And so what a great day to launch season 2 of abortion with love!

So I’ve been gone since mid-June, and I’m feeling really excited and motivated to start a new season. I feel like I’ve grown a lot since I started podcasting last December, not just technically, which, you know, I hope I’ve gotten better at, I can really cringe listening to the first episodes, but also, I feel like I’ve gotten more and more comfortable having conversations in this public way. When I started I was actually quite scared of releasing episodes out into the world because it felt like once they were out there, I had so little control of how my words would be interpreted, and I was so scared of making mistakes. But I feel like I’ve come to terms with that I am human, and I do make mistakes, and that’s okay, and my hope for this next season is to get even more comfortable and more daring in the topics that I cover. I want to have more open dialogues, more open conversations, where we get to talk about things that are a little more difficult to talk about, more complicated topics, and to normalise these conversations that we don’t really get a chance to talk about often. And that can be really scary because we don’t really have many references on what those conversations could look like but here I’d like to try, and I want you to join me.

Another important announcement is that I have launched a website, I am so excited about it, it’s www.abortionwithlove.com, that’s right, my very own domain name! On the website you’ll have information on every episode, who the guests were, what we covered, as well as information on how to get in touch with me, and how to donate, if you’d like to support the podcast financially.

Here is a shout out to Idalina, Carla, and Emily, who are the illustrators who have helped me create all the illustrations on the website, so, you should go check out their work, they are incredible artists. And of course a big shout out to Anton who continues to be the head of the music department here at Abortion, with love.

Alright, so let’s start with Season 2. This time I’m taking things a little slower, so we’ll be releasing episodes every three weeks instead of every two, just to give myself a little bit more time and not put so much pressure on myself. I’ll see you next Tuesday with the first official episode of season 2. I’m so glad to have you, thank you so much for listening. A special thank you to those of you who were listening while I was on a break, that was really cool to see that I had some downloads over the last few months, but a big thank you to all of you.

Much love, see you next Tuesday.
